We have returned to the Apostles and the old Catholic Fathers. We have planted no new religion, but only preserved the old that was undoubtedly founded and used by the Apostles of Christ and other holy Fathers of the Primitive Church.

--John Jewel, Apologia Ecclesiae Anglicanae, 1562.

The Orthodox Anglican Communion® is a global movement of Christians committed to the historic faith in the Anglican tradition. Established in 1967 and with one million lay members, the Orthodox Anglican Communion is the largest such fellowship of Churches not affiliated with the See of Canterbury.

  • The Orthodox Anglican Communion is committed to the original vision of the Anglican Reformation: a return to the doctrine and practices of the early Christian Church, without Roman additions or Protestant subtractions.
  • The Orthodox Anglican Communion is not led into error or heresy by political and social trends: only godly men are ordained to Holy Orders and marriage is affirmed as a sacred bond between a man and a woman.
  • The Orthodox Anglican Communion is both catholic and evangelical, restoring the "via media" of Anglican doctrine and practice.
  • Each Bishop, minister, church, or layperson who joins the Communion vows his allegiance to Christ our Lord as the Divine Son of God, and particularly affirms his belief that the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, divinely inspired, and containing all things necessary to salvation.
  • Each affirms his belief in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds.
  • Each solemnly engages to conform to the doctrine, discipline, and worship of the classic Anglican formularies as contained especially in the 1662 English, 1928 American, 1929 Scottish, and 1962 Canadian Books of Common Prayer.
  • The Archbishop of the American branch of the Communion, known in the USA as the Orthodox Anglican Church, serves as Primate of the global Communion. The Most Revd Dr Scott McLaughlin is the fourth Archbishop to serve as head of The Orthodox Anglican Communion.
  • Clergy in the United States are trained at Saint Andrew's Theological College and Seminary. The Communion is sponsoring the formation several other theological colleges around the globe.
  • The Apostolic Orders of the Communion are Anglican, Old Catholic, and Orthodox in origin.
